The Web Rebbe
The old proverb in advertising was "Dress British and think Yiddish!" Now, along comes a dyed-in-the-wool Chasid who is an Internet marketing guru!
Let me introduce you to a new friend of mine: Rabbi Issamar Ginzberg. We were introduced by a mutual friend--copywriter and marketing consultant Shel Horowitz.
When I spoke with Rabbi Ginzberg, I asked him how does a Rebbeshe Einekel (scion of a great Chasidic dynasty) become a marketing guru?
"We have a family tradition of giving advice!"
So here is some Rebbeshe advice, based on a talk he gave at Google Headquarters in Israel!

Search me
Knowledge in war is very simple, being concerned with so few subjects, and only with their final results at that. But this does not make its application easy. You can say the same for Search. It's simple to "google" something and get the results you want. But what Google does and how it works is far from easy.

It's Official: Google Indexes Comments
A few years ago, I had an on-blog conversation with Bob Bly on the idea of marketing with blog comments. Bob was skeptical, but I had done it together with Steve O'Keefe.
Now it's official. Mequoda Daily reports that Google is indexing comments on blogs and Facebook posts. So add comments to your toolbox. And remember--Google is watching. So if you don't have something good to say, keep your comments to yourself.

Don't get me wrong. I love Google
King Kong vs. Godzilla was kid stuff. The real battle of the titans is between The Lord of Redmond and The Masters of Mountain View.
I got a newsletter the other day from Paul Myers warning of the financial tsunami heading our way from the seismic shift caused by Google's latest algorithm change. Then I read Dianna Huff's analysis of the new Google: The Panda Update: Unique Content Rules, People
An hour or so later, I read in the Wall St. Journal: "Feds to Launch Probe of Google."
Where are we heading?
My favorite line in Lord of the Rings is when Treebeard sees the destruction Saruman has wrought preparing for battle, and he says:
"A wizard should know better."
