The greatest direct mail letter of all time?

I've mentioned the brilliant positioning of the Wall St. Journal in their promotions, especially their direct mail letter that sold subscriptions for some 30 years before it finally gave way to a revision by Mal Decker.

Ken McCarthy reports that the creator of the Wall St. Journal letter, copywriter Martin Conroy, passed away on Tuesday at the age of 84:
